Support:
As a statewide leader in social studies education is his 30 plus professional years, Tom Carman exhibits a mastery of content as well as the skills of a master teacher. During his established career, Tom always had the welfare of students as his first priority and challenged members of his profession to be creative and innovative.
Tom has earned two Masters Degrees, illustrating his strong belief in profession of growth. During his career he participated in a one-year Australia teacher exchange. Tom actively participated in activities sponsored by the Foundation of Teaching Economics and traveled to the Ukraine in an effort to work with international economics teachers. Tom served as president of the Nebraska State Council for the Social Studies in the 1990s. In 2006, Tom was awarded the Phillip and Terri Schrager Outstanding Teacher Award.
I feel strongly that Tom would be an outstanding representative of the values the the Paul Beck Award was created to recognize.
